DESCRIPTION
This Project was executed for St. Josephs College, Sathyabama Group Chennai.
CHALLENGES FACED
An impressive sight of a free-form steel surface spans St. Joseph’s College with a unique appearance. With a Built-in area of 10000 Sq.Mtrs., it spans over 72 meters outer to outer and a length of 150 meters. We faced a significant challenge to erect the entire structure on the first floor. If the structure is on the ground floor, the huge span requires a minimum of 3 Cranes for the erection. Due to the less space, only Single Crane was used to lift the massive rafters hoisted on the Triangular Tapered Circular Column.
RISK MANAGEMENT
While executing the Project one of the RC Pedestal gave way and Cracked due to the unsymmetric loading that happened at the time of Installation. As an immediate response, our entire Team along with our Director rushed to the site and all the efforts were put forth in handling the situation. As a contingency plan, additional cranes were brought in and the structure was dismantled and lowered without further damages. Once the Civil Pedestal was re-casted the installation procedure went on smoothly and the project was completed as per the scheduled time. As explained earlier, failure does happen, but the way we handle makes us stand apart.
