DESCRIPTION
This Project was executed for Texmo Group, a leading manufacturer of Water pumps.
CHALLENGES FACED
This project is of particular importance in Geometric’s career because the project had to be installed on the existing Random Rubble Masonry which was constructed before 30 years. Elaborate analysis was made by our Professor Dr.G.S. Venkatasubramaniam to achieve the right structural proposition. The challenge of designing space frame was well handled by St.Er.Arun. The approval process alone took months before the fabrication and installation started at the site. The project was completed with a record time of 6 months. The challenge was to design a space frame structure that had to be lightweight and should span 48.75m. The structure was built for Texmo covering 20000 Sq. Mtrs. of Space Frames Structure, used as Machine Shop.
RISK MANAGEMENT
Our Directors had done their Civil and Mechanical Engineering from VLB Engineering College ( Now Krishna Engineering College ). Then Prof. Dr. G.S. Venkatasubramaniam was the HOD of the Civil Department. Professor Dr. GSV has done his Doctorate in Slender Structures and presently is the Chief Structural Consultant for Daimler Chennai. His experience of handling near to impossible tasks of 48.75 Metres Clear Span Structure on an existing 30 Year Old Random Rubble Masanory Wall was not an easy task. Continuous load testing was performed on the wall and the structure, numerous calculations, repeated trial, and error methodology was used before lifting the structure. Once the structure passed all the testing, the installation was completed in record time.
