DESCRIPTION
The project was executed for an NRI Client (Forum Group) at the heart of Edappal city. The proposed shopping mall has been pre booked by Global supermarket vendor “NESTO”.
CHALLENGES FACED
The forum mall site is a G+4 floors building, constructed on an irregular trapezoidal shape within a constrained space.
Designed was a challenge considering the various Architectural and MEP requirements. The design contains different load applications and specific height requirements for each floor.
The columns and beams had different positions, levels, orientations, and they were up to 12-meter long. The beam was limited to 600mm depth, considering height restrictions
Star column, star connections, and cantilevered beams used in this site were difficult to fabricate and install. We have constructed a 13-meter circular-shaped cantilever at the entrance of the Mall.
RISK MANAGEMENT
Considering cost-effectiveness, we used the split space frame technology. At the time of its installation, there was a sudden breakage in the High Tensile Bolt at the bottom chord of the space frame. Our team immediately resolved the problem and saved the structure from further damages. We assembled a 36 meters length space frame on ground level with well-organized and proper planning. The vast assemblies were lifted and connected simultaneously at 30 meters with four giant capacity cranes. The building dimension is 134 m X 138 m X 16 m. / G + 8.
